Health screenings by the NHIS
The purpose of health screenings by the NHIS is to prevent diseases through preemptive identification of the risks before the diseases occur and provision of health care supervision or follow-up medical care.
- General health screening: Insured employees and individually insured persons are required to take health screenings every year or every two years, depending on their eligibility.
- Health screening at transition points: insured persons aged 40 or 66
- Screening for five most common cancers: stomach cancer, intestinal cancer, liver cancer, breast cancer, and uterine cancer
Health screening for students
- Elementary students (grades 1 through 4), middle school students (grade 1), and high school students (grade 1)
Preemployment physical screening
- Conducted for new recruits at government offices and private companies before employment
Health screening for the retired(pneumoconiosis)
- Conducted every year for persons with health management pocketbook
Comprehensive health screening
- Health screening tailored to different needs of workplaces and individuals across genders and ages, in order to prevent diseases by identifying them at the early stage
