    Monitoring & Follow-up Program is a program to prevent the injury or disease of a worker having recovered from the said injury or disease from recurring itself, developing into more serious conditions or accompanying any complication (involving another disease or injury that can trace back to the foregoing original injury or disease) or identify at the early stage whether it may recur itself, develop into more serious conditions or accompany any consequent complication by giving the worker medical services (e.g. medical examination, medicines, medical treatment, etc.)

    Covered symptoms (including complications)

    • 11 categories of symptoms (including aftereffects attributable to eye-related disability), which consist of 42 kinds of injuries and diseases

    Coverage criteria

    • To be covered by this program, in principle, a claimant’s medical examination or treatment, and other medical measures shall be given (Out of the following-up program is excluded).
    • The Program is for outpatient services; however, inpatient services may be covered for the following workers :
      • A disabled worker with Disability Grade 1, 2 or 3 who is potentially eligible and in need of hospitalization from a medical aspect to preventively manage his/her own complication (e.g. pneumonia, urinary tract infection, etc. (In this case, however, his/her coverage period shall be limited to one week.).
      • A worker who has developed pneumonia, pulmonary abscess, pulmonary fungal infection, etc. as part of the sequela of an occupational lung disease he/she used to suffer from (In this case, however, he/she shall be entitled to hospitalization in installments within 3 months (i.e. 92 days in total) per year from the day when he/she has effectively obtained an initial or additional entitlement.).
      • A worker who has received any emergency services to treat other sequelae than pneumonia, but hasn‘t obtained an entitlement to additional medical care (In this case, however, his/her coverage period shall be limited to one week.).
    • Medicines or medications to which an eligible work is entitled shall be limited to the ones as specifically covered by the Program; provided that, however, the use of other medicines or medications as not specifically covered by the Program is necessarily required from a medical aspect, the worker may be entitled to them. Notwithstanding the foregoing provision, the medical treatment or examination of his/her own personal diseases may not be covered by the Program.

    Procedure for applying for the program

    • Acknowledgement of entitlement to the Program : A claimant submits a "Claim for Permanent Disability Benefits" or "Application for Entitlement to the Program" to the K-COMWEL
      → The branch office with jurisdiction screens the said claim or application.
      → The branch office with jurisdiction delivers a notice of award to the claimant.
    • Claiming for & payment of covered expenses : The claimant receives relevant medical treatments or examinations from a medical service provider as specified on the delivered.
      → The claimant presents the notification to a pharmacy to get medications.
      → The medical service provider and the pharmacy bill the K-COMWEL branch office with jurisdiction for the corresponding expenses.
      → The branch office with jurisdiction screens the said bill. → The branch office with jurisdiction pays the billed expenses.
