    All workplaces and business with (i.e. employing or using) at least one full-time worker shall be subject to mandatory coverage.

    Workplaces

    • All workplaces and businesses with(i.e. employing or using) at least one full-time worker shall be subject to mandatory coverage.
    • Workers who experience work-related accidents at a workplace subject to WCI-mandatory coverage are eligible for WCI regardless of whether the employers submit the Declaration of WCI Relations or not.

      ※ Employers shall pay for WCI, retroactively effective as of the day of the said acquisition. Also, they shall contribute 50% to any WCI benefits.

    • Workplaces not subject to WCI-mandated coverage are able to voluntarily join the WCI&EI upon the approval of K-COMWEL. The WCI&EI takes effect as of the next day of when the application is submitted.

      ※ For the application of EI-Voluntary Coverage, employers shall attach the agreement from the excessive number of workers(excluding non-eligible workers)

     

    Workplaces excluded from WCI & EI coverage

    Workplaces (or projects) excluded from WCI coverage

    • ⓐ Businesses covered under the Public Officials Pension Act or the Military Pension Act;
    • ⓑ Businesses covered under the Seafarers Act the Act on Accident Compensation Insurance for Fishing Vessels and Their Crew Members and the Pension for Private School Teachers and Staff Act;
    • ⓒ Any of the following construction projects conducted by employers other than housing developers under the Housing Act, building contractors under the Framework Act on the Construction Industry, contractors under the Electric Construction Business Act, information & communication service contractors under the Information and Communication Construction Business Act, fire-protection engineering contractors under the Fire-Fighting System Installation Business Act, and cultural property repair contractors under Section 5 of Article 2 of the Act on Cultural Heritage Maintenance, Etc. :
      - Construction projects with less than KRW 20 million in total costs; or
      - Construction projects with 100㎡ or smaller in floor area, or repair projects with 200㎡ or smaller in floor area
    • ⓓ Self-employed housekeeper
    • ⓔ Businesses that are not mentioned from No. 1 to 4, which hire less than 1 full-time worker
    • ⓕ Non-incorporated workplace with less than 5 full-time workers engaging in agriculture, forestry (excluding logging), fishery, and hunting

    Workplaces (or projects) excluded from EI coverage

    • ⓐ Non-incorporated workplace with 4 full-time workers or less engaging in agriculture, forestry, fishery, and hunting
    • ⓑ Any of the following construction projects conducted by employers other than housing developers under the Housing Act, building contractors under the Framework Act on the Construction Industry, contractors under the Electric Construction Business Act, information & communication service contractors under the Information and Communications Construction Business Act, fire-protection engineering contractors under the Fire-Fighting System Installation Business Act, and cultural property repair contractors under Cultural Property repair contractors under Section 5 of Article 2 of the Act on Cultural Heritage maintenance, Etc. :
